Mamma Mia! is just consistently good
I've seen this show 4 times now (1x in London and twice in L.A. - San Diego was my fourth experience). At first, I was a bit disappointed in the casting. The girl who played Sophie, in particular, was distractingly chesty and her voice didn't seem that strong in her opening number. And Sky just seemed too old for her. However, as the show went on, I became totally absorbed as usual. The lady who performed Donna's part was particularly talented. She was just wonderful! Definitely the best part of the show. While I thought that the guy who was cast as Sam was too young, he was great, as were all the potential fathers.
The theater, itself, is a bit old-school but hey, we are in San Diego, where we're not exactly known for our theater.
